Welcome to My Personal Page
Did you know that out of an average of 86,000 homeless people in Michigan, one in three is a 7 year old child? (MI HIMS 2010) In lieu of this local tragedy there is an organization who is proactively working to end homelessness for children in Southeast Michigan, called Grace Centers of Hope. Grace Centers of Hope is one of the leading Christian-based, non-profit homeless shelters in Oakland County, providing life-skills programs, rehabilitation services and transitional housing to homeless men, women, children and families. Located in Pontiac, this organization strives daily to provide food, clothing, shelter, recovery counseling and career building programs to those in need. Those greatest in need are the children who end up homeless as a result of destructive drug addiction and abuse in their families. These children come to Grace Centers of Hope in desperate need of educational, social and recreational structure that is critical in leading healthy, successful lives, preparing them for adulthood. Their needs are met through the ‘Children’s Program’ at Grace Centers of Hope in which provides both the basic needs such as food, clothing and shelter, and extended services such as child-care and summer camp opportunities. On Saturday June 4th, 2011, I will be walking and raising funds to support this program and homeless children at the 6th Annual ‘Walk a Mile in My Shoes’ Walkathon at the Detroit Zoo in Royal Oak. Please consider supporting my walk and homeless children in Southeast Michigan. Even by donating $5 or $10 you are giving a child a chance at a better life. Thank you for your consideration!
